A large and impressive early English oak settle/bench circa 1740 with traditional rope strung seat under a large down-filled cushion covered in deep wine coloured seat. Four fielded panels, beautiful carved relief with scallop shell centre feature, stretcher legs and turned arm rests. A beautiful piece of furniture , that suits numerous environments, great boot bench, hallway feature or kitchen/dining seating. Fabulous patina and great looking piece of furniture. Knocks and dings consummate with age, historic woodworm holes to one of stretcher legs which we have professionally treated. 72 inches length x 45 inches to top of bench.
