A superb and exceptionally rare Medieval - Tudor oak boarded / plank chest from Henry VII / Henry VIII period. English, circa 1480-1530. Plank lid with a moulded border and chamfered edges.
Good proportions , fabulous colour and presence. A very fine piece of early English furniture 28 inches x 18 inches.
The condition of this beautiful chest is commensurate with its age. Old woodworm holes (we have professionally treated) , knocks, dings etc, one of the hinges to rear has been replaced over time and is loose. The front panel to top right has also been built in two pieces with a unique smaller section.
