An exceptional and very rare collectors piece by Carlo Scarpa the iconic Italian architect of the 1950's. This incredible statement piece of furniture was commissioned by Adriano Olivetti who also commissioned Scarpa to designThe Olivetti Showroom which is located in Venice Italy on the northern edge of Piazza San Marco. It was designed and completed between 1957 and 1958.
When Scarpa was commissioned by Olivetti in 1957, it was understood that this showroom would be a space designed to show the products, as well as Scarpa’s talent as an architect.
This stunning side board was one of the main features that greeted visitors when arriving at this monument to architectural mid century design.
The Olivetti Showroom by Carlo Scarpa has recently come full circle. Today, the Olivetti Showroom is a recognized historical building, where Scarpa’s design has become a museum for itself.
As statement pieces of Mid Century furniture go there is nothing close on the open market to this example. This exquisite side board screams quality and high design.
