An exceptional French Art Deco Boucherie table. Dating from 1920 this stunning statement piece of furniture has been preserved in its original condition with the fabulous addition of a bespoke made glass top to enable the functionality in a modern kitchen. The table’s top has an exceptional patination of a solid parquetry oak top. The grooves and wear show the decades of knife work and butchery adding to the history of this spectacular piece. The top is bound together with steel wrapped corners that help to keep the unit strengthened and tight over years of daily use. The butcher block rests on a stylish pine base that has been influenced by the Art Deco movement that was occurring at the time of its construction and has had plenty of use over its lifetime. The left-hand side is a free-standing piece with the original marble top and a drawer underneath. The main section features double drawers to the base section, with deep cupboards underneath. The left drawer of the larger piece is the “Fridge drawer” still being zinc lined, which would have held the ice to keep the meat chilled. The splash back has two knife holder positions at the back and two recessed knife holders. This is a spectacular statement showpiece for a kitchen.
