Exceptional Set Of Midcentury 115 Tulip Chairs With Matching Tulip Dining Table By Iconic Designer Maurice Burke For Arkana Circa 1960

A beautiful rare matching all original stamped set of 115 Midcentury Tulip chairs, with the sought after oversize model Tulip table. Designed by Maurice Burke for Arkana in 1960. These early versions were the British production models that Burke licensed from his American patented designs for the UK market whilst working alongside legendary designers such as Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson and Alexander Girard. The British based firm Arkana fostered some of the boldest expressions of what we now call Mid-Century Modern style. Burke established his reputation as a furniture designer in the 1950s -70s. With an impressive client list that included G-Plan, Parker Knoll, Greaves & Thomas, Uniflex, Race Furniture and not forgetting Heals and Son in London. Several of his designs were selected for the Design Council and Design Index and because this acclaim represented British design in the UK. Burkes 115 Tulip chairs were also used in the ground breaking futuristic Star Trek series of the 1960’s, cementing his name as one of the iconic innovators of Midcentury design.
