A very early and rare example of an antique Georgian Captains travelling chest/trunk. Original leather/hide covering, original brass studding. Beautiful lock plate and escutcheons. Dating from 1750 this trunk has history and the scars to show for over 250 years of use. A fabulous looking piece of furniture that can be used for decorative purposes/coffee table and storage. This model Is a rare oversize flat lid version (predominately these were dome lidded),dating from the George II period/1750. All original with Georgian blue interior lining. A fabulous survivor in good order for age. Likely to have been retailed by Bryant’s at 28 Ludgate Hill London who were suppliers to nobility, officers of the army, navy merchants and Captains. Bryant’s retailed these travel trunks, portmanteaus and leather ware/wear.
