A beautiful French Empire antique style mahogany mirror with bevelled mirror plate mirror with gilt ormolu detailing.  Sourced from a hotel in the South Of France this superior quality statement mirror is beautiful in all aspects. All of our 18th and 19th century mirrors are individual works of art, framing a unique time-image of history. The majority of our mirrors contain their original mercury or silver nitrate mirror glass. Mercury glass consists of an alloy of mercury and tin that creates the reflecting surface. Original mirror plates have history and detailing that cannot be replicated and each mirror is unique. Foxing of the glass where the mirror plate ages over time adds  timeless beauty to a mirror. The faded grandeur from years ago. Modern bland reproduction mirrors cannot match the beauty or tell a story when looked at as an original antique mirror.

These mirrors are 20th century models apeing the earlier 18th century style. All in good order for age and would suit a property project where one or more of the same mirror is required.

As a genuine antique/vintage piece there is wear and use commensurate with age. Some nibbles to surround. Bottom left of mirror has been restored after photos were taken. Some wooden products may have signs of historic woodworm. As a precaution we apply a clear triple action woodworm treatment that also kills wet rot, dry rot and woodworm.
