An absolutely beautiful early Georgian provincial Sheraton elm chair. A fabulous survivor and great example. Rare elm frame with turned legs and cross stretchers. Beautiful wear to front cross stretcher from years of feet rubbing against the wood. Fair condition for age. Circa 1790. Historic repairs showing a well loved chair. Deep patina and open grain to wood. The use of elm indicates that the chair is likely to emanate from the Suffolk area. The perfect side chair/table beside chair.
Height 92cm x 43cm width x 39cm depth x 43cm seat height.
