An absolutely beautiful rare early antique French thick plank extending fruitwood farmhouse refectory kitchen dining/serving table. Fabulous patina from years of use, circa 1850. A very provincial piece of French furniture with extending leafs to take the size from 2 metres to a huge 3.65 metres. We have never seen this model of table, extending tables in our experience tend to be later in age and more prevalent with parquet top models. To have a table of this quality with the under sliding leafs of this size is a complete one of a kind. The leafs extend securely with underside thick hand cut runners, all individually crafted to snugly fit under main table top when not in use. Fabulous thick cut timbers with exceptional open grain/detailing to table top and leafs. Square cut legs with slight taper and hand carved apron to underside. Original dovetailed central cutlery drawer. A complete one off, no doubt commissioned for a fine French country home. Will seat 15 - 18 when extended. Ideal for family get togethers when you require more space at the dining table, very versatile and practical and beautiful to sit at/admire. Altogether a very fine example and a rare piece of furniture. These are highly sought after tables which are used as intended as preparation/dining tables or as kitchen console islands. This piece looks good from all angles with deep mellow graining to all sides. These statement pieces of furniture are getting near impossible to source and are great investments for the future to be used and admired for years to come. We have lightly refurbished the table with wax and woodworm treatment.
2 meters length with leafs in. 2 metre 82cm with one leaf extended or 3 metre 65cm with both leafs extended. Height 81cm x 62cm to under plinth x width 80cm.
As a genuine antique/vintage item there is wear and use commensurate with age. Some wooden products may have signs of historic woodworm. As a precaution we apply a clear triple action woodworm treatment that also kills wet rot, dry rot and woodworm. Please look at all the images carefully and ask any questions pre purchase as we do not unfortunately offer refunds due to the size and shipping costs of our antiques/items.
