An exceptional example of the highly sought after Louis XV Cane Bergere Chair. This is an absolutely beautiful early version in incredible order for its age. Deep patina from years of use, original worn paints to arms where centuries of hands have rubbed away to reveal the original period base coat. Carved decorative motif to back rest surround worn with years of use. Beautiful swept arms and double cane work confirming superior quality. Very rare to find originals and this chair has been well loved over its history. Some historic repairs to underside of the frame with addition of screws. The cane work is deeply burnished with years of use and in good order for age. Circa 1770.
