A beautiful and early antique repeating mantel clock by renowned maker Franz Hermle. Exceptional quality, the movement on this model is known as the “Rolls Royce” of mantel clocks. The movement doesn’t skip a beat and has the most gorgeous crisp chimes on the hour and half hours. This exceptional time piece is one of the first models produced by Franz Hermle before the clock making firm was handed over to his sons in the mid 1900’s. Still trading today they are seen as the world leaders in the manufacture of clocks and movements. This fabulous survivor has crisp decorative detailing to clock case standing on lion paw feet with acanthus leaf, decorative tulip swags, lire end panels with griffins (to signify protection) and clasping hand to upper laurel wreath. Hand painted ceramic Roman numerals to clock face and original black steel spade clock hands. Original decorative key. Highly sought after by collectors this statement clock is to be admired and used as intended.
Good patina and associated wear to brass ormolu case. Movement all in working order with original key. The clock is clean, has been serviced and is working perfectly. Back/rear brass disc is missing, however this does not detract from the look or use of the piece and actually accentuates the beautiful chimes.
Gentle harmonious sound to mechanism. Dating from the early 1900’s this is a beautiful piece of history to be admired and used as intended as a superior timepiece.
Full Height 25cm x 16cm Width x 11cm Depth.
