Rare Pair Of Esedra Seat/Poufs Designed By Monica Förster (Designer Of The Year) Whose Works Have Been Exhibited In Museums & Institutions Including Moma NY & VA Museum

A fabulous rare pair of Esedra seat/poufs. Designed by Monica Förster, a renowned and sought after designer whose awards include ; Designer of the Year and the prestigious Sweden’s Architect Association Award and The Golden Chair. Her work has been exhibited all over the world in museums and institutions such as Moma NY and VA Museum, London. Monica Förster has also been represented in The International Design Yearbook.

These two spectacular leather seat poufs which are being sold separately were designed for Poltrona Frau who are best known for their artisan home furniture, bespoke leather creations and outfitters to some of the most elite aircraft cabins worldwide, yachts, sports cars and Royal palaces.

When designing the Esedra pouf Monica Förster took her inspiration from the large circular woven straw forms typical of Lapp handicrafts.‎ The result is an inviting disk-shaped pouf of natural simplicity.

Large, slightly overlapping segments create a refined decorative effect.‎ The particular workmanship develops from the centre of the seat, which becomes the heart of a striking sunray effect.‎  The internal structure of the Esedra pouf is made from birch plywood and solid beech.‎ The base is in wood lacquered with black scratch-resistant textured paint. The upholstery is in Pelle Frau® leather.‎

Creator of some of the most internationally renowned objects in contemporary Swedish design today, Förster grew up close to the Artic circle in the very north of Sweden. Her work is characterized by a strong sense of pure form mixed with a never ending curiosity for new materials and technology. Always trying to work in a cross-disciplinary way, she invents and renews typologies in industrial, furniture and object design. Monica Förster, one of the top names within Swedish design, has created some of the future’s classic designs. Monica Förster Design Studio is based in Stockholm and works on an international level with companies such as Volvo, Tecno, Alessi, Cappellini, Poltrona Frau, De Padova, Bernhardt, Whirlpool, Georg Jensen, Eric Joergensen, Offecct and Rörstrand.
