A fabulous pair of hand carved male and female (Drake and Hen), painted antique Spanish decoy ducks circa 1870. Very sought after and so hard to find originals of good quality. We have two in stock and we just love them. Great decorative pieces that will suit a multitude of settings. 

These are most pleasing examples carved in palm wood which is associated with Spain and the Mediterranean coast, being a lighter wood of models found in America, Britain, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Pre 1900 they tended to have painted cut out or carved eyes as in this instance. Shot holes add character and appeal, showing that they have been used for their original purpose! Both have fabulous patina and colour for their age, almost folk art in look.

As a genuine antique / vintage item there is wear and use commensurate with age.  Some wooden products may have signs of historic woodworm.
