Antique Mid Century Italian Chiavari Chairs Hollywood Regency

Inject some glamour and iconic mid century Hollywood Regency design statement chairs into any setting with these beautiful original 1950’s stamped Chiavari chairs. Chiavari are named for the Italian city where they originated. This little town in the north of Italy began producing these chairs at the beginning of the 19th Century. In 1807, Gaetano Descalzi designed a light, elegant, yet solid, cherry wood chair known as `Chiavarine`. The design was based on the Louis XV panel-back side chair however without the back upholstery. The chair eventually waltzed from the dining room to the ballroom. In 1953, the Kennedy’s used Chiavari chairs at their wedding, sealing the chair’s fate in history. Now sought after Iconic Midcentury statement chairs the originals are rare and rising in value as investments for the future. This pair are in imacculate order and have been recovered in ages hand dyed black leather. Stunning examples. Full height 98cm and 92cm (His hers the hers is slightly more dainty in size (just). height to seat 50cm width full width 39cm.
