A beautiful antique leather library/fireside arm chair. Cope & Collinson ceramic castors and stamped rear feet confirming a chair of superior quality likely to emanate from one of the major retailers such as Howard & Sons, Shoolbred & Co,Hamptons or Cowtan & Son. Exceptionally comfortable with sprung base and wide seat area. Beautifully turned front legs with inset ceramic and brass castors stamped C & C Patent (early mark for Cope & Collinson). Rear legs stamped 639 & 60276. The chair has a definite Howard & Sons look to the style/shape. Condition is fair for a chair of this age. The leather has a deep aged Oxblood patina. A slight mark to rear back rest and scratch to seat top, neither detract from the look or functionality of the chair. All in all a fabulous example dating from circa 1840.
