A beautiful antique early Irish School naive oil painting. A great decorative piece of art. A jovial male on his way back no doubt from a public house, walking in the rain past a Croft style house with his trusty hound/dog looking on apprehensively as to his masters well being. A real fun and folk piece of art capturing the spirit. The painting has been remounted at some point by an experienced art restorer at we would imagine great expense as has been done exceptionally well. It has also been re stretched when remounted indicating that this has been a prized painting/ possession of note. We have not researched the painting yet, but simply love the story and folk style application of the artist of his subjects. Dating from around 1890 this oil on canvas is the perfect decorators piece to inject style and a talking point to any room.
