An exceptional set of eight antique Georgian English Country House Chippendale dining chairs. Hand carved mahogany frames with decorative carved splatbacks and supple aged leather seats. Beautiful patina and look to this early set which have “the look” and would grace any dining table/room. Two carvers/elbow chairs and six matching chairs.

Circa 1830 with Scrolled 'bow' shaped back with pierced Gothic arched splat back. Seat supported on moulded chamfered square legs with stretchers. llustrated in plate XVI of The Gentleman & Cabinet-Maker’s Directory by Thomas Chippendale, these side chairs are among the finest interpretations of Philadelphia Rococo seating furniture in the Gothic taste. They stem from the set of at twelve chairs commissioned by Thomas Wharton Jr. (1735-1778), a merchant and member of the prominent Quaker Wharton family of Philadelphia.
