This exceptional quality slipper chair dates from 1860 and is synonymous with Gillows design embracing the new “moden” Aesthetic Movement in Britain that aimed to escape the ugliness and materialism of the Industrial Age, by focusing instead on producing furniture and art that was beautiful and expressive reflecting the change in times.

Furniture of this quality and provenance is a rare find. A real statement piece of furniture. Fabulous form with swept back rest and mahogany turned reeded legs. Original Cope and Collinson ceramic castors with decorative brass inlay surround. Swept rear legs with and  turned decorative frame with scroll back. Upholstered in pretty pink damask pattern. The perfect bedroom, bathroom statement chair. Inject style into any setting with this design classic.
