A beautiful example and rare survivor of the “Harvest Chair” by American cabinet maker Lambert Hitchcock. Dating from 1810 this Georgian ebonised design show chair. is in original sleepy condition with no later alterations. Exquisite detailing and fabulous form/shape. Beautiful swept legs synonymous with the Georgian period of design. Rattan work original and in good order for age. Some marks/knocks to decorative detailing as expected for age.
Hitchcocks business started in a small town in Connecticut, where he began making chair parts from maple, birch and oak. Instead of carving or inlaying the designs, Hitchcock used a stencilling technique to embellish the dark finishes on the chair parts. Highly sought after this beautiful piece of history will inject style into any setting with a catalogued back story. Circa 1810.

An absolutely beautiful early Regency cane faux bamboo Sussex chair. Ebonised bamboo turned frame with cane seat. Traces of original lead blue base paint. As chairs go this is out there and such is the quality it should be in Brighton Pavillion. A very rare statement chair. Circa 1811.
