A very early George I walnut bureau with over book case circa 1720. This is the rarer diminutive size bureau. Constructed from extremely well chosen, highly figured walnut veneers. The overall size and proportion is rarely found and it is small enough to fit just about any space. Oak lined drawers, featuring dove tailing showing this is the piece of master craftsman, even the parts you don't see are of superior detailing. Beautiful bracket feet, brass detailed drawer handles adding more history to this outstanding piece. The book case above has a pair of astral original glass doors with original glass, two adjustable wooden shelves interior front opening to reveal a lovely interior with pigeon holes above. The book case has been added we think around 1800 as was common to prolong the life and use of earlier bureaus. A beautiful piece of furniture.
