An exceptional early Georgian Irish ball and claw foot camel back sofa. Elaborately carved mahogany arms, rail and acanthus detailing. Chippendale in look this piece screams quality. Finished in a hand dyed leather with brass studding.
This sofa is a rarity as very few have survived, especially with all claw and ball feet intact. One of the visual appeals of this sofa is enhanced by a wider curve beginning at the base of each scrolled arms, making the sofa much more open and inviting than American examples of this type.
110cm seat width
Depth seat 50cm
As a genuine antique there is wear and use commensurate with age. The arm of right hand of the sofa has had historic repair and the corner of the sofa has also had historic repair, neither detract from the look or use of this stunning example. Some wooden products may have signs of historic woodworm. As a precaution we apply a clear triple action woodworm treatment that also kills wet rot, dry rot and woodworm. Please look at all the images carefully and ask any questions pre purchase as we do not unfortunately offer refunds due to the size and shipping costs of our antiques/items.
