A beautiful set of four early English Provincial elm stool back chairs . Dating from 1730 these chairs are absolutely beautiful with deep patina and the typical grain/striping you get from antique elm. These chairs speak volumes of history and have over their life’s been loved and restored over many 100’s of years. If you look closely at the feet of the chairs they have been expertly repaired by a master craftsman to raise the height of the chairs to suit taller individuals as the years went on. Originally the chairs would have suited more diminutive sized people but as time progressed the population got taller, thus the chairs were altered to reflect this. There is a simple and beautiful functionality and form to these chairs and they would suit a multitude of settings and can be used as intended as dining chairs or would make fabulous bedside tables. We are selling the chairs singularly. The price is one for one chair.
