An exceptional antique Victorian flame mahogany collectors/specimen cabinet/drawers from The Hope Department Oxford University. Circa 1860. Superior quality with 32 individual circular numbered bone detailing to drawers. Hand cut dove tailed cock beaded drawers with mahogany liners. Original brass escutcheon inset key holes with original double teeth “patent” locks. Turned double bun handles to drawer fronts. Thick grained Cuban mahogany slab top and sides/divisions with light flame mahogany drawer fronts. Superb quality made to order for The Hope Collection at the bequest of the Reverend Frederick W. Hope. Unique in every aspect, a rare design and sought after size dating from circa 1860. This statement chest/cabinet screams quality and will inject style into any setting. A beautiful piece of period antique furniture to be admired but to be used and appreciated. Practical drawer sizing perfect for manuscripts/maps/larger filing purposes.
