All of our 18th and 19th century mirrors are individual works of art, framing a unique time-image of history. The majority of our mirrors contain their original mercury or silver nitrate mirror glass. Mercury glass consists of an alloy of mercury and tin that creates the reflecting surface. Original mirror plates have history and detailing that cannot be replicated and each mirror is unique. Foxing of the glass where the mirror plate ages over time adds timeless beauty to a mirror. The faded grandeur from years ago. Modern bland reproduction mirrors cannot match the beauty or tell a story when looked at as an original antique mirror.
