An absolutely exceptional pair of very rare Regency Chippendale rosewood show/side chairs by renowned cabinet makers William Bertram & Sons Dean St Soho. As featured in the Paris exhibition 1878 confirming superior quality. Beautiful crisply carved back splats synonymous with Chippendale with Chinese carved influence, swept carved front legs, swept rear legs, carved detailing to lower apron, deep mellow graining and patina to rosewood timbers. Simply stunning chairs.

William Bertram & Sons also featured at the Crystal Palace exhibition (April 1882) and featured at the 1884 Exhibition of Furniture,Exhibition Road, South Kensington, London and were renowned for their Chippendale & Sheraton style furniture. The Furniture Gazette, 1 May 1888, recorded Bertram & Son supplying the Strand District board room.

Upholstered in fine English Titley & Marr fabric (recovered approximately 2 years ago), ready for reupholstering or to be used with current fabric which will require braided borders to lower chair apron.
