Rare Antique Regency Ebonised Tortoise Shell & Cane Show Chair By Bettridge & Co Birmingham Circa 1815
A very rare Regency ebonised, cane and tortoise shell design show chair by Bettridge & Co Birmingham. Dating from 1815 this exceptional survivor is in original sleepy condition with no later alterations. Exquisite detailing and fabulous form/shape. As chairs go this is out there and such is the quality it should be in A museum. A very rare statement chair. Recent sales of inferior models to this chair have exceeded £1,000 level. Makers brass stamp to underside, cane work original and in good order for age. Some marks/knocks to tortoise decorative detailing as expected for age.

An absolutely beautiful early Regency cane faux bamboo Sussex chair. Ebonised bamboo turned frame with cane seat. Traces of original lead blue base paint. As chairs go this is out there and such is the quality it should be in Brighton Pavillion. A very rare statement chair. Circa 1811.
