An exceptional quality early Georgian flame mahogany serpentine knife/cutlery box. Tulipwood string banding, inlaid marquetry stars to top and inner lid. Bramah escutcheon confirming a piece of very high craftsmanship. Circa 1788. One of the best examples to come to the market. The inner cutlery area has had a later conversion to hold stationary, giving this beautiful object practical use alongside its fabulous design and look.
