Find a better pair of near identical smokers/captains/elbow/desk chairs than these beautiful examples. The best we have had in to date. Remnants of original oxidised treacle black and red paintwork. Makers stamped Initials to seat W.L. Years and years worth of wear to wide grained elm saddle seat and back rests. Double cross stretcher, yew turned arms, carved legs and spindles with great detailing. These chairs look good from every angle and if furniture could speak would tell stories of years of use and being well loved and used elbow chairs. Wider seat frame than the norm allowing for a more generous derrière size. Simply stunning examples circa 1840.
